What is ETIAS?
ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) is a new electronic travel authorization system for visitors from visa-exempt countries traveling to the Schengen Area.
Similar to the US ESTA or Canadian eTA, ETIAS aims to enhance security by pre-screening travelers before they arrive in Europe. The system will be linked to several European databases to identify potential security risks.
ETIAS is designed to be quick and simple. Most applications will be processed within minutes, though some may require additional review taking up to 96 hours or, in exceptional cases, up to 4 weeks.
